More Than a Moment
I’ve always felt that photography was more than capturing a moment in time. It’s more like capturing a memory; the surrounding sounds, the smells, the feeling you hold in that moment. I’m nostalgic by nature and desire to remember every experience in such vivid detail so I’ll never forget it. This is why in each season of my life I have taken photos.
I document the delight that fills my heart so that when I need it, I can vividly remember the all-emcompassing feelings that were held in that moment. The way the breeze feels coming off the water. The way the sun peeks around the mountains in the earliest moments of daylight after you’ve reached the summit. The way the anticipation of being married builds in your chest as you prepare for your wedding. So much more than a moment; a memory.
I believe that too often we see our strongest feelings in a negative light; as if we should tamper and diminish them. I intend to make space for my feelings to come, pass through and be experienced in their fullest form and believe that they enhance and give meaning to life.
I want to allow my photography to be the art that allows others to experience the memory that I so fondly hold; that by seeing my images, they can also vividly imagine the sounds, smells and feelings that were held in that space.
